Alcatel-Lucent 1646 Synchronous Multiplexer and Alcatel-Lucent 1646 Synchronous Multiplexer Compact
The Alcatel-Lucent 1646 Synchronous Multiplexer (SM) and the Alcatel-Lucent 1646 Synchronous Multiplexer Compact (SMC) — part of the Alcatel-Lucent Optical Multi-Service Node (OMSN) family — are economical as well as ideal space-saving multiservice systems for customer premises and metropolitan access network applications.
These cost-effective systems can be inserted directly into access rings or connected through unprotected or protected point-to-point links, for example, to connect large and medium business customers to the central office. Relying on a full non-blocking matrix, the Alcatel-Lucent 1646 SM and the Alcatel-Lucent 1646 SMC address many network topologies. Many service interfaces are offered, including all standard PDH and SDH interfaces from E1 to STM-1/-4 as well as Ethernet, Fast Ethernet (FE) and Gigabit Ethernet (GE).
