1850 Transport Service Switch - 5R
The Alcatel-Lucent 1850 Transport Service Switch - 5R (TSS-5R) is a fully redundant, cost-effective access and aggregation switch, enabling service providers to migrate to the Packet Transport Network (PTN) while maintaining support for legacy services.
Ideally suited for mobile backhaul and Ethernet business applications, the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5R can be deployed at base station sites or can act as a compact hub for traffic aggregation, collecting Ethernet and legacy customer traffic and feeding into the higher-capacity metro-core PTN or optical platforms. Equipment redundancy and multiple tunnel protection options are supported for the delivery of high-availability services, all in a very compact form factor.
The Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5R offers 28 Gb/s switching capacity, upgradeable to 75 Gb/s. Its interfaces provide a flexible, high density mix of packet — Fast Ethernet (FE), FX and Gigabit Ethernet (GE), upgradeable to 10GE — and circuit emulation — E1, DS1 and Synchronous Transport Mode - 1 (STM-1). Implementing standards such as MultiProtocol Label Switching - Transport Profile (MPLS-TP) and Transport MPLS (T-MPLS), IEEE 1588v2, and Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE), the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5R is a full-featured packet transport switch that supports Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy/Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (PDH/SDH) services using Pseudowire Emulation Edge-to-Edge (PWE3). Control, switching, and interface card redundancy ensures that there is no single point of failure.
As part of the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS product portfolio, the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5R supports MEF (former Metro Ethernet Forum) and MPLS-TP/T-MPLS standards, along with PWE3 Circuit Emulation Service (CES) over Ethernet and multiple synchronization options.
